Brett Nenaber

Director of Player Performance

Brett Nenaber is entering his 11th season and fourth with Washington in 2023 as director of player performance.

An NFL athletic performance professional, Nenaber has served in a variety of roles with the Carolina Panthers, including athletic performance analyst (2015-19),a ssistant strength and conditioning coach(2014-15) and strength and conditioning intern (2013-14).

Prior to working in the NFL, Nenaber spent two years with Arizona State University, serving as a graduate assistant with the strength and conditioning staff (2010-12). He also spent time with the RedBull Racing Team, serving as a pit crew member for two years (2008-09).

Nenaber received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Arizona State University, majoring inInterdisciplinary studies and Exercise andWellness, respectively.

Chad Englehart

Head Strength & Conditioning Coach

Chad Englehart is entering his 14th season with Washington and his seventh as the team's head strength and conditioning coach in 2023 after being promoted to the role during the 2017 offseason. He initially joined the team as an assistant strength and conditioning coach on February 26, 2010.

Prior to joining Washington, Englehart served as the head strength and conditioning coach with the Florida Tuskers of the United Football League in 2009.I

n 2008, Englehart served as director of strength and conditioning at Xcel Sports Performance in Louisiana. Before that, he was head strength and conditioning coach in 2007 at HS2 AthleticPerformance in Mandeville, La., and at the University of New Orleans in 2006.

Englehart holds a Master's degree in human movement with a concentration in corrective exercise fromA.T. Still University. He also holds a bachelor's degree in kinesiology with a concentration in exercisescience from Southeastern Louisiana University. He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist with the National Strength and Condition Association and is a Performance Enhancement Specialist andCorrective Exercise Specialist with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).

Englehart also holds certifications with USA Weightlifting and USA Track and Field, FunctionalMovement Screen and TRX Suspension Training certifications as well as a Fitness Nutrition Specialist certification from the NASM and a 3DMAPS (3D Movement Analysis and Performance System)certification from Gray Institute.

Englehart and his wife, Lyndsey, have two daughters, Blair and Elise.

Kavan Latham

Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach

Kavan Latham enters his 11th NFL season and seventh season with the Washington strength and conditioning staff in 2023.

Latham returned to Washington as an assistant strength and conditioning coach on January 23, 2017, after previously serving as a strength and conditioning intern for the team in 2013.

Before returning to Washington, Latham spent three seasons with the New York Jets, first serving as a strength and conditioning intern in 2014. He was then hired as an assistant strength and conditioning coach during Todd Bowles' first season in New York, a 10-6 campaign in 2015.

Latham is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sports Performance Coach (USAW). He also holds Precision Nutrition Level 1 (Pn1) and Fascial Stretch Therapy Level 1 (FST1) certifications.

Prior to entering the NFL, Latham completed strength and conditioning internships at Rutgers (2011), St. Joseph's (2012) and Temple (2012). In addition, he contributed as an assistant coach at his alma mater, The College of New Jersey, during those two years.

In addition to playing four years as a defensive tackle at The College of New Jersey from 2007-10, Latham also competed in the discus, hammer throw and shot put during his college career. He earned his bachelor's degree in health and exercise science, as well as a master’s degree in Sports Performance Health and Wellness from Liberty University. Latham is also working towards a PhD in Exercise Science. He married his wife, Sara, in March 2018.

Ryan Vermillion Jr. 

Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach

Ryan Vermillion enters his fourth NFL season with Washington in 2023, joining the team as an intern strength and conditioning/athletic performance coach. Ryan was brought on full time as an Assistant Strength Coach/Assistant Athletic Performance coach following the 2021 season. 

Prior to joining Washington, Vermillion worked as a Strength and Conditioning coach with Hendrick Motor Sports in Charlotte, NC. Where he worked closely with the Pit Crew Teams and Drivers from 2017-2019. He also spent time with the Carolina Panthers as part of their Equipment Staff in 2016-2019.

Vermillion holds certifications with NCSA as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sports Performance Coach (USAW) and NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist.

Vermillion initially earned his bachelor’s degree in Health Systems Management from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. In addition, he holds a Masters degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion: Performance Enhancement Specialist and Injury Prevention from California University of Pennsylvania.
